I am in tears reading this reflection page. I am a Jersey girl transplanted to North Georgia. Our neighbors in Chattanooga TN just lost a Police Officer two days ago. The news spoke of this wonderful page. I have said a prayer for the Samra family, friends and fellow officers. God bless you all and thank you for keeping our citizens safe.
Blessings. Patty

Well Johnny, now you have Tommy [Ret. P.O Lanzalotto]
You know, I had always been impressed by the spiritual side of Tommy -- silver turquoise jewelry, cowboy boots, pow wows & tepees. And, riding beneath a moon's bright canopy.
Tell me dear friends, have your bikes' spurred wings? Does Pegasus soar with the stars?
~~In my heart your still alive, because great spirits never die~~

John was a very thoughtful & generous friend & helped us without question. I was crushed to learn of his death.
One fond memory I have is the time he shows up & I hadn't cooked yet, but there is this big brown raw potato & John simply takes his fork, prongs the thing & 'graciously' bites into it, unfazed. As to say "But, you did have something to offer me." --- a gentleman who's humor put other people at ease & someone I will always remember.
I was glad my brother, Robert Krupinski, played taps for his memorials, but it still saddens me he is gone. But then, our loss is Heaven's gain.

Johnny,
You were a mentor, friend and fellow "Mid-Nighter", who could always make me laugh with your natural wit. As a new cop it was a honor to have worked with you. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten. Rest in peace my brother.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

P.O. Samra,
I have browsed this page everyday for several years and left many reflections to many officers. I have never left one for you because it was too hard. My father wears the same patch that you wore. When your watch ended, I was very new to the job. Not a day of work goes by where I don't remember what happened to you. Rest in peace. Your brothers and sisters will always carry on you watch.
