Your heroism and service is honored today, the 91rst anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. To the friends and family of Motor Officer Paul E. Buckley,

I am a Homewood resident and have served in the police profession full and part time for a total of 8 years. I never knew an officer in Homewood had been killed in the line of duty until I did a specific search for Homewood Officers.

I would hope that if any family member has a photo of this officer they can submit, it would complete the memorial that can be seen world wide.

Homewood should be proud of all it's officers. They walk that thin blue line every day, knowing it can be their last. I am proud to be a resident of Homewood. Prouder still of Officer Buckley and his sacrifice.

God bless Officer Buckley's family and the residents of Homewood.

After 84 years through the efforts of the Homewood Police Association it was discovered that Homewood PD had lost an officer in the line of duty that was never remembered. The Homewood Police Association has since on Oct 19 2004 placed a memorial marker in front of the Station to remember the life and sacrafice of Officer Buckley. RIP

REST IN PEACE MOTOR OFFICER BUCKLEY. MAY YOU REST IN PEACE. I AM SADDENED TO HEAR THAT ANOTHER OFFICER TO BE TAKEN IN THE LINE OF DUTY. AT THE AGE OF 16 I WAS A TROUBLED TEEN AND LEAD AUTHORITIES ON A CHASE THE PERSON I WAS WITH ENDED UP CRASHING THE VEHCILE NO OFFICERS WERE HURT BUT I STILL CRINGE EVERYTIME I THINK I COULD HAVE GOTTEN AN OFFICER HURT OR KILLED. I HOPE THAT IF ANY ONE READS THIS THAT THEY WILL LOOK AT THE NEXT TIME THEY SEE THE LIGHTS AND SIRENS IN THEIR REAR VIEW MIRROR TO JUST PULL OVER AND LET THESE FINE PEOPLE DO THEIR JOBS. IT TOOK ME ALONG TIME TO APOLOGIZE TO THOSE I HURT BUT NOW I HAVE MADE PEACE WITH MYSELF FOR THE CRIMES I DID AND THOSE I HURT. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND DEPARTMENT DURING THIS TRAGIC EVENT. YOUR MEMORY WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN BUT HONORED.

REST IN PEACE AND GOD BLESS.
