Reflections for Deputy Marshal Glen Denning DeVanie

Hey Glen,
Thinking of you tonight and always. I always wonder where and what you would be doing of you were still here. I remember that tragic day, it ill be forever in my mind. But I also remember our friendship, we had a great friendship, it was like a son/mother relationship, even though I wasn't old enough to be your mom, lol! You had a wonderful relationship with my son, Brock, he is about to be a dad for the first time, you would be so proud. He misses you also. I keep up with the kids through Liz's FB. You would be so proud. I love you and miss you today and everyday. I know even though I eventually moved away that we would still have a friendship and keep in touch. I pray for your family and friends, because the pain never goes away.

Glen, I talked with a lady in St. Louis about you today. Her husband is in law enforcement.
I surely do miss you each and every day. It's extremely hard to believe you have been gone 20 years.
I'll love you forever and ever!

Not sure when I first met Glenn. I know that his older brother and my older brother where both in a play together. I would first get to know him in 1991 when I got into the Order of the Arrow. We would both serve on Summer Camp staff together at Camp Attakapa in 92 and 93. Then the two of us along with two others would become our lodges top ceremonies team until each of us aged out. We attended conclaves together and served as officer of the lodge in 1996. I would be part of his Vigil Honor ceremony in 1996 as I had received my vigil in 1995. I would end up having to move in March of 03, I would see him for the last time the weekend of March 29-31. I even have a pic that would be his final OA picture. He is missed by all but will always be remembered as a great scouter, leader, and friend.

I just wanted to say that I am still sorrowful that this happened to such a wonderful man. It will always be something that is grievous and hard to understand. I want yall to know that I will always remember Glen as a good man and a wonderful father and husband. He was a hard worker. He was honest and very mature- ahead of his time. What a blessing he was to his family! He will always be remembered as an excellent person- better than most of the people I know. May God bless this sweet family that has been left behind to grieve his loss. I love you guys. May the Lord Jesus be with you. And hold fast to the real fact that you will see Glen again- heaven is a real place and we will all be there someday very soon! Much love, Ellen

Hey~Jerry fell yesterday and broke his wrist. Can you believe? We saw Troop 6 in Texarkana on the way to the Buffalo River to go canoeing. You would have loved that adventure. Know you enjoyed your birthday the other day~and of course, you were remembered by all of us.

Hey Glen!

Jerry and a friend of ours went with me to the LOPA picnic in Folsom, Louisiana on your 8th Heavenly Birthday. Many families of donors and recipients were there. It's awesome to think of you helping others to extend their life. Maybe some of them had young children like you or were young fathers like you.

We also went the see LSU play Ole Miss in baseball. You were always on my mind!

The flowers in memory of you in Church Sunday were absolutely beautiful~

I'll love you forever,
Mom

P.S. Miss you bunches!!!!!
