Reflections for Sergeant Michael Walter Johnson

May God grant your family a comforting peace as you transcend this earthly bound. I have no doubt that God will meet you with open arms as you go forth to patrol the streets of heaven under his command. May God bless you, your family, friends, and all of the remaining peace officers who will continue the watch here in your absence. Good night, Warrior.

To all the Troopers of the Vermont State Police, We know the pain and share in your loss and will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Matthew 5:9 "Blessed are the peacemakers"

Sgt. Johnson, you would not know my name if you heard it, but yours is now indelibly etched in my heart. I did not know you personally though we did have occasion to meet in the course of our jobs. I hope to see you again when I am called home. Until then, brother, I will think of you often and carry on your memory with honor.

To Sgt. Johnson's family, my thoughts are with you and I am so sorry for the loss you have suffered. I wish you the strength to make it through each day. As police officers we are taught to never give up. I say the same to you. Sgt. Johnson gave his life doing what he believed in, and while this may be of little comfort to you now, perhaps it will help you find peace in the years to come. For now, know that you have thousands of people praying for you, and that Mike is close at God's side, smiling down on you all.

To all VSP troops, take care of each other and yourselves. I am very sorry for your loss.

My heart aches. My head is cloudy. My friend is gone. How could this happen to such a bright and promising life. Words can not express the grief my heart feels. His smile, his laughter, his happy gait. This is what I will remember. I was lucky enough to have know Mike. He touched my life as well as my family's. Where Mike was, laughter was. He has left us laughing and smiling.
My deepest condolences to his wife and his three beautiful children. May the memory of your father always bring a smile to your face.
Keep smiling Mike. God bless you and your family.

The death of Sergeant Michael Johnson is a true tragedy. I have known Mike for many many years. He was so vibrant and full of life it is impossible to imagine him no longer with us. Anyone who was fortunate enough to know Mike understands how devastating a loss this is for all of us. My heart goes out to Kerrie and the kids. They were blessed to have had a husband and father like Mike. He will never be forgotten and will remain a true hero to us all.

Mike, you will be missed. I have been reminiscing about all of us working together in Killington. Mike H. (VSP-444), Mike M. (VSP-424), Howie M309-1st Constable (RET) and Scott - M308(2ndConstable) still up there working, and all the rest of VSP that worked in the ski country. It is an honor to have worked with all of you.

My prayers are with all who knew you, the Trooper who always had a smile and a joke, loved sports, and most importantly..... loved his family.

God Speed! Rest in Peace.

Sgt. Michael Johnson was a wonderful guy Mike was good to me and would often play one on one basketball with me after my brother Cody's games. Mike told me that he couldn't wait to see me play basketball at the varsity level and to think he could have been by coach. I send my deepest sympathy to his family and fellow officers. He will be missed. Rest in Peace and May God Bless

Rest easy my brother. You will be sorely missed.

I lived in the town of Bradford, Vt for several years and graduated from high school there. I lived across the street from the state garage and felt a little safer seeing the State Police cars fueling up throughout the night. I always wondered what sacrifices they made in order to serve. I have been a police officer for 13 years now, and am aware of those sacrifices first hand . Our agency just lost an officer as well, so this especially hits home. I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to Sgt. Johnson's family and the entire Vermont State Police.

Sgt. Michael Johnson, you made the ultimate sacrifice last Sunday. You put your life on the line for the general public, for people you did not even know. You are a brave soul, you are a Hero. You will be missed and not forgotten. To the family of Sgt. Johnson, I give you my condolences. May the Lord help you through this difficult time, for you should know that Sgt. Johnson is in a better place. One where there is no crime or violence. To his fellow TROOPERS, may the void you feel in your hearts be filled when this selfish criminal is brought to Justice.

Inspector William Furtado
Department of Homeland Security

Our prayers and thoughts are with you all. May god give you strength, and courage to go on. We will keep you in our prayers and shall not forget you. Thank you all for the sacrifice your husband/father made for his country. I did not personally know your husband/father, but I too was involved in a line of duty death, (in fire service) and believe me I feel your pain. May you all heel, and may you find the courage to go forth.
Please know we are all behind you in your struggles. I'd be more then happy to lend a helping hand, If ever you needed, Just ask....

Trooper Johnson's life and service were, and continue to be, a reflection of how an officer should live. Professional in service, involved in community, admired by the public.

Civilian friends have encountered him in service and he was kind, supportive and professional. Our communities and highways are reduced at his loss.

Rest assured, family and friends, God was there through it all.

Blessings,

Officer Bruce Jerome

There are givers and there are takers in this world and Vermont State Troopers are truly givers. In an era when heros are so hard to find. few would dispute that Sgt. Michael Johnson was most definitely a hero.

Sgt Johnson was a shining example of what being a Vermont State Trooper is all about. He typified the very essence of professionalism, loyalty, integrity and courage that provide the foundation of what the Vermont State Police are built on.

As a former Aux. Trooper from the Brattleboro Barracks, I met Sgt. Johnson on a few different occaisions, and he always treated me with the same respect and candor that he would of shown to the Colonel, or his own family. He was the type of Trooper that a young T/2C would do well to emulate.

On behalf of the members of the City of Concord Fire Dept, we extend our deepest sympathies to the Family of Sgt. Johnson.

To my brothers and sisters in the VSP, keep up the good work. Its what Mike would of wanted and expected.

Always remember that Sgt Johnson made a difference in this world because he died doing something that mattered.

How sad, to lose such a fine man, a veteran officer so needlessly. I pray for this brave sergeant's family, friends and colleagues. We all are hurt by this loss because we are all family of the badge, no matter where we work or what uniform we wear.

I am relieved the creature that did this evil act was apprehended. This brave trooper now patrols the highways of Haven with St. Michael. God Bless and be safe.
