Reflections for Police Officer Aaron Jovon Blount

Officer Blount,
On today, the 9th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Fulton County. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy. I've only briefly read some of the reflections left for and read one to stated that you were attending the Coast Guard Academy when you left to become a Police Officer-I bet you would have made a hell of good Military officer as you were a Police Officer.

My life was so enriched the day I looked into your eyes and said you were mine. We shared a bond that no one could explain. I didn't realize that the goodbye and "I love you" would be our last. The fateful day you were taken I felt the pain before I got the call and now years later I'm still trying to cope. You are so missed. You will always be my shadow, my "Nibbles."

I have to 2nd C. Bass here. There was none like Blount, when it came to the care of his Security Officers in his beat. Blount treated us with respect and gathered alot of great training and information from us, because he wasn't afraid of not knowing everything. Blount was the absolute best Police Officer I had ever worked with in my Security Career.

I remember the day as if it was now. I pulled out onto Washington Rd, headed to Atlanta to patrol another property, just leaving Blount. (He would come over to our apartments, just to see what we had) About the point I made it to hwy 166, I could see nothing but multiple Police Vehicles with alot of Police lights, driving like they all had a purpose. I said to myself, I hope my partner Blount is ok, because it appears they are rolling on something serious.

As I arrived to Atlanta, we met with an APD officer and asked if he knew if anything had happened in Fulton. He advised that, radio indicated end of watch for a Fulton Police Officer, but they didn't give the name.

At this point my partner and I proceeded back down to the Washignton Rd. area, where we met with a Fulton County Officer (Name unknown) and said to him, please don't tell me it was Blount man. He just stood there and looked at me in silence. I immediately began to be taken over from emotion and began to tear.

I knew at that point, as I do today, that GOD gained a great angel, as we on earth lost a wonderful fallen friend.

Aaron,
In the last three years alot has changed. I finally made it and am now a police officer. I remember the way you always were with us little security officers and try to treat people the way you did, with respect and decency. I loved you for that and I try to use that model everyday. I miss you Brother and think about you often! And trust that I always will until I get called home! RIP my Friend!!

I remember Aaron Blount From Germany he went to middle school with me.Aaron was a funny guy he liked to dance.I recall him doing the Flava Flav dance like it was yesterday. That is one thing that stood out in my head, another was how kind and generous he was as well a person.i often question why certain people such as Aaron had to go ,but I figure that the lord needed him for something special.Aaron I send my prayers out to your family.I know your son will know how great and special you were, and your fiance already knew your qualities as a person.I love you brother, you will be missed.

Aaron,

It almost feels like only yesterday we were in high school on the football field or racing our Classic VW Bugs down Camp Creek Pkwy. You were always a person I admired and looked up to like a big brother. I remember when you joined the force and how much you wanted to make a difference in community and in the world. We ate lunch at Popyes on Old Natl the day before the 22nd. I think about you every time I go. I just wanted to say I will never forget you and how you touched my life by being the man you were. You will never be forgotten and I will see you again big bro!

You have not been forgotten. I can remember attending your memorial services. My son and I sat on the font row he was only 4 at the time and still remembers that morning and he asks me about it occasionally and says " Mom, are you still going to be the Police? I said yes, he said well, what about the Officer that died. I said he's with the God and he is watching over everybody along with God. My son said will he watch over you. I said Yes. once a Police always a Police. I say that to say. I never knew you, but you left a wonderful mark in my life and my son's life. He's 9 now and still remembers that day and probably always will.

Aaron,
I really miss that smile greeting me in the afternoon as you were coming into work and I was going home after I went to day watch. Little did I know that when I saw you that afternoon it would be the last. Im glad to know that the piece of crap that did this to you has finally been sentenced after almost 8yrs. We miss you Aaron and there isnt a day that goes by that I dont think about you and the fun we use to have on evening watch. Rest well my friend and co-worker, your in a better place!!!!!

I thought about you the other day and couldn't stop laughing. I remember standing in your apartment looking at that blow up plastic couch and wondering to myself 'why does he have a cat?!'. You were a great friend and I miss teasing you! You were a great officer and I miss working with you!
