Reflections for Detective Daniel F. McCrea
On the 101st anniversary of Detective McCrea's death, we honored his service in our patrol briefing by reading his entry from ODMP. Each day, we honor one fallen officer on the anniversary of their death so as to keep them in our thoughts, and also to remind us of the dangers inherent in our job. Detective McCrea is not forgotten.

On this the 100th anniversary of your death your sacrifice and service are remembered.
Rest in peace as you patrol with St. Michael and all fallen
heroes in heaven.
The fact that you were disliked by the criminal element is
proof that you did your job. The fact that you were shot at
numerous times is proof of your courage.
Your legacy has undoubtedly inspired dedicated officers over the years.

Detective McCrea, you worked for the Railroad only 6 months and were shot several times, and still went back to work!?! Sir, you had courage that I may never know. My hat is off to you.
I only hope that individual who murdered you, somehow got justice for his crime.
God Bless and Rest in Peace, Brother.
