Reflections for Federal Prohibition Agent Stafford E. Beckett
Your heroism and service is honored today, the ninety first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

I would love to speak to the relatives of this Agent or anyone on the staff. I did the original research that is posted on the Drug Enforcement Administration Memorial Wall web site and since that time I have begun researching and writing about the incident in El Paso. I was able to find some information through Census Records, e.g. Stafford's wife moved back to Colorado after his death. I believe Beckett and Wood were killed in cold blood and hope that my writing brings to light the bravery demonstrated by the many agents hired to enforce the doomed 18th Amendment.

I want thank all of you who have left a reflection here.
My reflection is that I never got to meet this man; my great-grandfather. I know he was an honorable and noble man. Yet he made the greatest sacrifice serving his country.

Court decisions have stated clearly that people do not have the right to resist even an unlawful arrest. You, Agent Beckett, were there for lawful purposes and it cost you your life. You and Special Agent Wood did not deserve to die at the hands of these miscreants. You died in the line of duty and then your family died a little at the treatment you received at the hands of the Justice System.
You have not been forgotten. God Bless and may you continue to Rest in Peace, Brother.
