What a wonderful memorial. I have just come to learn that Hugo was a relative, and in searching for information on him, I found this beautiful tribute. Ann, I will try to reach out to you on Facebook. I would love to learn more about your father...who I believe was my father's cousin.

And to Hugo, and to all who have been taken too soon in the line of duty, I thank you for your service and I will say a prayer for the loved ones you left behind.

God bless.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 46th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

Hard time of the year, dad. Memorials coming up and it only reminds you how much you missed, we missed out on, and how much I miss you still today. I Feel cheated in a sense. While God blessed us with another wonderful dad, it saddens me when I put too much thought into it. HPD has done a wonderful job honoring you, Emilio and Pete. It is no longer an effort to ensure your memories will be kept alive, as the City has done it on their own.

I stand proud representing your memory and as long as I am alive, will continue to do so.
I Love you Dad!

Hugo. ..you have no idea how often you cross my mind. Of course, you are still "Sonny" to me. Every couple of years I have a very vivid dream of how you would be now. Often the dream will end with your Uncle Bob and cousin Robert sitting with you reminding me that you are all in that heavenly place, watching over us. It makes me feel safe and comforted; and I feel your guidance.

I was so young when we lost you but I remember so many details of who you were. ..cigars, jazz, Barbara Streisand, chasing your precious children around the year.. ..I will see you again.

Dad,
Kathy was more intregal in your Street naming than she'll ever take credit for. I know she was God sent.

Jim's message was so heartfelt. I hope those that were with you; those by your side, know that we thank them for being with you. You were not alone. It was your time. Those who knew you are better for that. You were once described to me as a "Cracker Jack" Cop. While that may be "old school", I have always taken pride in that statement.

Hope we've all made you proud. You're missed more than words can say.

I Love You.

Well Hugo, its been 42 years. I bet to Cora it seems like yesterday at times. She is such a nice lady, and Ann is the spitting image of you I think. Im glad you finally can see your street sign, thanks to some, and equally no thanks to some others. But its done and your kids were all so excited as well as Cora. It wasnt right and Im glad I could help get it done.

Hey Dad,
It's been a rough couple of days. We lost another officer yesterday. 3 other's were injured. I hurt for their families, knowing the pain and loss they will endure for the rest of their lives. The streets are safer tonite as his killer lays dead and his accomplises are behind bars. It's these times that I miss all those years of having you here with us but am also reminded of how you too were needed to protect our streets. You have always been my Hero, and now there's another. Continue to protect us from above and know that your fellow Brothers & Sisters in BLUE are covering your watch.

I love & miss you each and every day. None of you will ever be forgotten.
Hugs,
Ann

Hugo,

You were the first Hialeah brother to fall on the line of duty. Your tragic death should have never happened. Your family fought a constant battle to have a street named after you. They fought not for any street. They fought for the street you deserved.

Hugo,

although we never met. I can assure you that you have not been forgotten. Your plaque, along with Emilio's and Pete's, hang proudly within our department.

Always rest in peace...

After all these years, there will be a street dedicated to you. There are individuals that I didn't even realize care about you being remembered. You may be one of the last Dade County officers to get a street, but it doesn't matter. We have never forgotten you & neither have many other's... it 's all a bit overwhelming. Thank you for being my guardian angel during the battles. I now understand some of what Mom had to endure. I know you have never left us. ...Everything in good time.

I love you.
