When calamity comes, the wicked are brought down, but even in death the righteous have a refuge - Proverbs 14:32.

I read about this event at the time it happened.

All these years pass that even I cannot erase this memory.

Hi bro,

I miss you very much bro. In deuteronomy 6:5 love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. But, since you are gone I am not able to love God the way i should, I am still angry at God for letting those bandit take you away from us the way they did.Since your depart there is no love, light, peace, smile, to make things seem more worthwhilee; only turmoils and darkness. One of your brother wrote a beautiful poem for you, I would like to send a special thanks to Sergent David L, Bell for the badge poem.
Thank you
love your sister Karene N. Benoit

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Let me 1st offer my condolences to the families of Detectives James Nomorin & Rodney Andrews; I did not know these two officers, but like many New Yorkers my heart broke when I heard the news. I have been living in Orlando Fl. for the past 5 yrs but even though I may be down here my heart is still in New York. I would just like to take the oppurtunity to thank both officers as they made the ultimate sacrifice in an attempt to make the streets safer for us and our children. May the two of you rest in Eternal Peace...

i wanted you all to know that the killings of these two detectives broke my heart. it still does. i didn't know them except as a fellow brooklynite. i have since moved away from home to baltimore city and work with teenagers who are way akin to the killer of these two gentlemen. when the kids talk about police here, i tell them this story. they have read ellis henicans' editorial after det. nemorins funeral so that they know of the unity of people in blue, of people in this union and in this nation. please know that your work matters. thanks all, robert mara, baltimore

May all who read this page never forget what heroes like you, who have worn the uniform, and your family have sacrificed so that others can sleep soundly. May your family lie their heads down peacefully every night knowing that they have you protecting them from above, and us protecting them down here.
