Reflections for Police Officer David Frank Mobilio

RIP.You will never be forgotten.

Dear David,

I was doing a ride along with my husband and the words "we need to get gas" came out of his mouth...fear shot through me. I spent that period of time looking around and complaining of the "hiding" places I could see around the gas station. I was never more happy to have us both safely back in the car. I realized that after twelve years of being a cop's wife...I still carry with me the "what if". On the evening you passed a phone call came in the middle of the night from a fellow officer to tell us the bad news and ask my husband to help in the man hunt. The look on his face and the tears in his eyes were enough for me to know something terrible happened. We wept together before he left that night and we made sure to say " I love you ". In your memory we continue to remember you on your anniversary and I personally will never forget you or that awful evening. I cannot drive by the station and not look in that direction without thinking of you. I could never seem to get one of the memorial pins they made for you, so I wear a blue ribbon for you on your anniversary. I fully believe that all fallen officers become angels to those who continue on the fight here on earth, so thank you for keeping our family heroes safe and God Bless you Dave.

This is really sad, i mean less then two months away from x-mas and his wife and two kids had to suffer with out there dad on that special day! I hope they kill the suspect and then bring him back to life, then kill him a gain. But I just wanted to say that David Mobilio is with god now and may be RIP

Well, where do you begin.... I just felt I had to write something. We pray for your family and friends that we may cope with your vacant spot in our lives..... My husband and I played in the PAL Dave Mobilio Memorial Softball Tournament and felt your presence there as well. You are still missed and such a sad place this Earth that the "bad guy" still wins occasionally. Bless you and all that you did. Your influence was amazing and still ongoing.

On the 5th anniversary of Officer Mobilio's death, we honored his service in our patrol briefing by reading his entry from ODMP. Each day, we honor one fallen officer on the anniversary of their death so as to keep them in our thoughts, and also to remind us of the dangers inherent in our job. Officer Mobilio is not forgotten.

Officer Mobilio:

Some compared Your murderer to The Unabomber, while others compared him to Timothy McVeigh.

On the anniversary(sic) of that fateful night, I will include Your Family and Friends in my prayers. I will also pray that we do not have many more such "ticking time bombs", as Your murderer.

May You Rest - In - Peace.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Yesterday I presented the annual scholarship in your name with our little Luke by my side. He is now 6 and growing into such a fine young boy. You would be so proud of him and how well he is doing in life! He strives to carry on your legacy! We talk of you every day...missing you and thinking about you. We love you!

To all who have responded and who knew Officer Mobilio, I thank you. His death sent a shock through Northern California because we do not usually see this kind of brutality. His murder will soon be forgotten but his life and memories will always remain. He served his community well and did it with a smile. I salute you, Officer Mobilio, and all who have been killed serving in such an honorable way.

I often visit this site and read of the brave fellow members who have been slain for nothing more than doing their jobs. Jobs that my wife and I do every shift. Jobs that could very well be our last.
To be murdered in such a random way I just simply cannot fathom. I am truly dumfounded that some piece of filth could take the life of an every day hero for nothing more than 'wrong place/wrong time'.
I pass in my most sincere condolences to all family, friends and fellow officers for your tragic loss nearly four years ago today.
Officer Mobilio, you walked the land of the Almighty as a Son of God. Helping those in need, keeping the peace, and finally giving your life so that others may enjoy the freedoms that we all in blue strive,(and at times die) for.
Be well and safe with God brave warrior brother. Be at Peace mate.

I lived in Red Bluff,Ca at the time that Officer Mobilio died. It came as a huge shock to me, as I had been acquainted with this honorable man. He was a respectable man and great policeman. My sincere condolenses go out to Officer Mobilio, his wife, son, and family. What a true hero. Unfortunately, he had to die at the hands of a true coward.

On this the third anniversary of your brutal murder, please know that you are not forgotten. Your valor and dedication will be forever honored.
Rest In Peace, Officer Mobilio. I am so saddened that you had to lose your life in such a senseless crime, and hope that justice is rendered in your case for this despicable crime.

May your family continue to be cared for by their law enforcment family and other police survivors.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Officer Mobilio gave to his community and the citizens of California, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on November 19, 2002.

Dave, we all miss you and will keep you with us as we continue on.

I had the honor of knowing Officer David Mobilio, personally. We were fellow graduate cadets in 1995 and the kind words I have for David cannot begin to describe what a beautiful person he was. He always had a smile on his face and had the warmest presence. The tragedy is deeper than the facts printed because of who he was. Senseless is an understatement. I did not keep in touch after graduating, so I can only hope that his family is finding peace with all the high regards David accumilated in his very short years of life. Thank you, David, for being you. Thank goodness for knowing you.

At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer.

Tonight, November 19, 2003 we dedicated the shift to the memory of P.O. David Frank Mobilio who died on this date one year ago.

When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.

Officer Mobilio's sacrifice will never be forgotten.
