Leave a Reflection

Reflections for City Marshal Joseph Beard

Many years of passed however no passage of time will ever erase your service and sacrifice. Rest in peace always.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the one hundred and fifty-first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

AHHHHHH The sweet smell of justice. A death befitting such a coward. Hail to a fallen hero.

Sgt. Eddie Bounds (Retired)

It is with great pride that there is a vehicle to remember fallen officers and that my great grandfather is included. He was called away from his breakfast to subdue a drunken brawler and saw no need to arm himself. He was admired by many in the City and his funeral was equal to that of Henry Clay's. In 1858 there were no financial safety nets to provide for survivors. My great grandmother had four children to raise. Economically, this set the family back for many years. Hopefully this has been adequately addressed for the families of all fallen public safety officers.
