Reflections for Sheriff George W. Alexander

Dear Grandfather George,

We remember with great sorrow your untimely passing. You were joined this Monday by your granddaughter Ann Claire Bridges Walker upon her passing. You and Grandmother Allie hold a special place in our hearts and the history of the State of Texas. You were elected Sheriff and on your death, Allie was appointed Sheriff to fill the remainder of your term.

That appointment means that Grandmother Allie was the only female Sheriff to serve in the history of Dallam County, Texas and (to our knowledge) the only female Sheriff in the history of the State of Texas.

Great great grandson of Sheriff George W. Alexander

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 83rd anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to be among the first to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace
