I have been blessed with the honor to have DHS/TSA canine LLangone assigned as my partner. She is an explosive detection canine and was named in honor of Tommy Langone. I was a Manhattan North cop and never worked with Tommy but have co-workers that have. He was a cops cop. I will never forget up and neither will your name sake. We serve in your honor!

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

To the wife, son and daughter of Officer Thomas Langone...please accept my most sincere condolences for the loss of your husband and father. He was a hero...always carry his memory in your hearts...and talk about him to all those who will come after him...they are his legacy.
To his mom...you have my heartfelt sympathy...I know your pain and grief having lost my own wonderful young son...no one should have to lose one child let alone two...maybe the only comfort you may find is knowing that your two sons are together...watching over all of you from a far better place.
To his sisters...I too have lost a brother in the line of duty...you have my understanding and condolences at the loss of both your brothers...it is not easy to have your own sadness and to watch your mother grieve too...I have also been there...you all will be in my prayers.
May God's perpetual light shine upon the souls of Officer Thomas Langone and his brother Firefighter Peter Langone and may they both rest in His eternal peace for having made the ultimate sacrifice in protecting and serving the people of New York.
With my prayers and deepest sympathy,

To the family and loved ones of Officer Thomas Langone and his fellow officers with the New York City Police Department and most especially to Thomas:
Mere words seem insignificant to honor your heroism and courage which will never be forgotten. On this the fifth anniversary month of the tragic devastation wreaked upon our nation, those brave men and women who lost their lives safeguarding others are remembered and revered.
May your spirit continue to soar and your memory continue to inspire. Your family had to endure losing two beloved heroes and how I wish they had not had to endure this tragedy.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect and gratitude for the distinquished service Thomas gave to his community and country, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on September 11, 2001.

Tom:
Let me say first off, that as a former resident of New York, residing in Yonkers, I always admired the NYPD for their professionalism and dedication. Secondly, for the last 27 years, I have been a law enforcement officer in the State of Florida, 25 of those years here as a Deputy Sheriff and Detective. The type of courage you displayed by deliberately putting yourself in harm's way to save others, only enhances what I stated about the NYPD.
You, and all who made the supreme sacrifice that horrible day, will NEVER be forgotten. Your actions, and those of others, has made us all proud to wear the badge. Though the animals who designed that attack were successful in killing thousands of innocent lives, they will NEVER be successful in diminishing our dedication to protect our fellow Americans, and our resolve to bring to justice any and ALL terrorists, foreign or domestic.
My prayer for your family, Tom, is that God grant them peace in their heart to know that they have made such a sacrifice on the alter of freedom, by losing not one, but two sons, and that we, as law enforcement officers and fellow Americans, would do well to always remember freedom isn't free. And to you Tom, may our Lord walk with you as you patrol the streets of heaven, knowing you have done your job, and did it well. God bless you, police officers everywhere, and God Bless America.

I will never forget that day. Wathing the television and seeing the devastation. I remember vividly watching and thinking my God all those policeman and firefighters. I had family there as well. They survived.
I had to do something so I did what I could. I volunteered at the morgue representing an out of state agency. I will remember every day of my life all the flagged draped stretchers brought into the morgue and thinking my God look at all the policeman and firefighters.
I see you all in my dreams quite often. I remember you all everyday and think about that day everyday. You are all heroes and are my inspiration to lace up my boots! I only hope and pray that I can be half the officer you are. Rest in peace.
A brother who remembers.
