I'd attended Vinny's funeral in Long Island! Met his wife and children, while Mayor Rudy Giuliani attended funeral services as well! Vinny and I were very close friends! Since I have been a CG Small Arms Instructor, Vinny wanted to join our CGPD during 911, to perform his weekend deployments/duties! Never could I've gotten him to the range to get his firearms qualifications to join our team. But, Vinny's memories will remain deep in my heart, until I die tomorrow and join him again in heaven! RIP my brother in Arms Vinny!

Sir,
Like all emergency service personnel that day, you showed immense selflessness and bravery going to save others. I remember that day as if it was yesterday but from far afield in the safety of my home in the UK. I was a young student that day but saw so many benefits it what people like you did.
I now am a Police Officer in England and can say I do my bit. However, my bit will never come close to the sacrifice you made. The reason I posted this reflection to you is the simple reason that whilst visiting the 911 memorial I singled out your profile to play on the auditorium wall. I (a grown 36 year old man) cried seeing the picture of you and your family and quite honestly wished I could meet them. I do not know them and doubt I ever will. But I hope that they are living a good life beaming with pride every day thinking of the hero that their husband and dad was.
Sir, you showed the world and resemble the greatest in humanity.
Thank you!

Was just realizing the date and started looking back through clippings, especially the Jimmy Breslin column about the day they found Vincent.

My thoughts drift back to 1999 when the members of NYPD's ESU hung out with three of us from the Miami-Dade Police SRT. Two years later our hearts would be broken by the events of 9/11. However, our spirit would be strengthened by the heroic deeds of those men like yourself, whose actions saved the lives of so many. Semper Fi. We at Miami-Dade will never forget our Brothers in blue from NYC.

I am a retired Metro Nashville TN PD Detective. Days after 9/11 memorial bracelets were offered online and I purchased one. The only choice was police officer or fireman. I asked for a police officer and received Officer Danz's name. At the time, NYPD had bios of the officers and I read about his wife and 3 children, his work with Catholic youth and his military service. I wore that bracelet every day for 10 years and only retired it because the engraving was starting to fade. I will NEVER forget and I'd like his family to know that I think of them often and pray for them as I remembered this hero.

Vinny .. I never know when you will cross my mind; it can happen when I walk past the memorial plaques in every one of precincts., districts or psa's of our city, or it can happen suddenly for no reason as remember any one of the the numerous incidents we shared in our RMP back in the early '90's. I never know if my eyes will mist up, or if smile will warm my heart for just having known you; usually, it's both.

There was that time we were on patrol in L.I.C., and a newly opened carwash on a back street was decorated with poles bearing the flags of many nations. When we noticed that of all the flags displayed, it was only our flag that was hung upside down, you made me slam on the brakes and back the car right up to the entrance.

We entered and found the manager, and you proceeded to give this much bigger gent a nose-to-nose lecture that had him turning white. Needles to say, the condition was quickly corrected, and a drive by of that car wash became a daily check on our beat.

I keep you and your family in my prayers.
