Lord, he was yours to give,
and yours to call home.
Please stand by his brothers,
so they're not all alone.
Dry the tears of his family,
so they clearly can see,
that he gave us his all,
so all could have peace.
Blessed are they,
the children of God,
with heavy hearts,
and honor they trod,
to pay their respects,
to give their salute,
and to ask for your mercy
on HEROES IN BLUE.
Amen.
Rest easy Mike,

I worked with Mike, and I just want to say, he was an excellent Police Officer, Father, and Friend. His devotion to the job was second to only his family. He was an incredible man, and I am better for having known him. He truly was a gentleman.

You sacraficed your life so that others may live. That is the definition of a hero. May your wife & children feel your love as you watch over them from Heaven. While your body may not be here, your love for your wife did not end with your life. Your wife is a wonderful woman who is doing a great job raising your children in a manner that would make you proud. V-6.

Dear Mike:
I am keeping my word to you and all the rest who gave their all that fateful day, to write a reflection in your honor. And so here it is:
without doubt, there are 25,000 people walking around today, who owe their very lives to your heroic actions and bravery. That is enough people to fill up a small town.
When God put you here, there was a purpose for that. And you proved what that purpose was on 11 September 2001. Most Americans don't know, or care to know, what we the police can and will do for them, not until they need us. But yoor actions and bravery gave many people some insight as to what the police are capable of doing.
I am certain that somewhere there is a family that is hurting with your absence, as is the law enforcement community. The cowardly bastards that did this have only succeeded in doing what the Imperial Japanese govenment did on 7 December 1941: "to awaken a sleeping giant, and fill him with a terrible resolve". Now they can feel the wrath of the American people and her military.
But I would rather spend this time reflecting on your dedication and professionalism, than discuss vermin. God sent St. Michael to be the patron saint of police officers, and he sent you to be the guardian of our people. Like a true "man on a mission", you went out and successfully completed your mission, and then you went home.
And as you walked through the Gates of Heaven, I know in my heart that St. Peter greeted you and when he welcomed you, he said, "Welcome Home, Mike".
Now you are among America's Finest, forever memorialized, and always an icon. May God continue to hold you in His sacred hand, may He bless your family, and as always, may God Bless America.

In loving memory of P.O. Michael Wholey: We are thinking of you and remembering you today and the
tragic events that struck our beloved
country that fearful and awesome
day. The battle against the terrorists
who threaten world peace goes on
today. Your memory lives on and we
will never forget the extreme sacrifice
that you gave. We also remember
those officers that made it through, but are experiencing health problems from the extensive and
dangerous clean-up. We are in a
fierce battle to make America safer.
May God continue to be with your
family, co-workers and loved ones
who are still grieving the void your
precious life left. This is a God size
pain. We'll never forget. Let's Roll!

There are but two persons who protect the sinful human race from destroying itself. One is God's Holy Spirit. The other is the Peace Officer. Without them, we would all perish at each other's hands.
You were called into this profession and our Lord and Savior has blessed you because:
According to Romans 13.1-5...
God ordains the Peace Officer’s profession.
The Peace Officer is sent by God.
The Peace Officer is vested with God's authority to enforce the law.
A Peace Officer's badge is to be honored by us, because God honors it.
You gave the ultimate sacrifice, your life for your fellow man, while serving, defending, and protecting others in your community.
Thank you for your service to America. Your efforts saved thousand that horrible day.
My thoughts and prayers go out to your family and friends. You will be in our hearts forever.

I tried to attend as many funerals as I could during these darkest of days as my way of showing respect to families and coworkers of all of my brother and sister Officers and Firefighters. I cannot find the words to say how sorry I am that we have lost these great heroes. I cannot express my thanks enough for your bravery and sacrifice. My prayers are with you and all of your families......................AC

My heartfelt sorrow goes out to the Wholey Family. I met Michael in 95 when I was assigned to the Bus Terminal with him. It was an honor to know and work with Michael. I shared a bond with Michael when we were on our way into work and a guy shot at us (later stated he was shooting pigons). I'll remember how calm Michael was both during the incident and after. You'll never be forgotten my friend.

My Prayers are with all the friends and family of all the officers who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
I lost my brother tragically, Det. David Taylor, Greensboro PD, On August 7, 2001. I was in NY for my fiancee's Mother's funeral the first of Sept. I was stranded there for 3 weeks due to this atrocity. As I watched the events on TV, I cried for all those who lost their lives. But was especially emotional about the Police Officers and the Firefighters and their families, as I had just recently suffered a tragic loss myself. As I walked through the streets in the days following the attack, I cried with pride as I saw the officers on duty on all the corners in the city. I knew how hard it was for them, knowing they had lost their friends. On the Sat. following the attack I was at St. Patrick's for mass. The last 2 people to go up and take communion were 2 NYPD officers, again I cried. I hope all of you are getting the support that my family and I got when we needed it, from the Deparment. I know the comforting words and even the funny stories the officers tell us about my brother helps. I know that our loved ones who are gone from here, had a higher calling and are happy and at peace in Heaven. Hopefully we can all feel that same peace one day! God bless All of you! And God bless America!

I met Mike ten years ago through our wives. Mike's wife and mine were roomates in college and the friendship grew from there. I can't think of any one word to describe Mike other then he was the type of person that just emitted positive energy and kindness. He was the kind of person who was just fun to be around. He was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. His greatest accomplishment was his family. The word "LOVE" would not do justice to how Mike felt about his wife and kids. They were the center of his being. The only other thing that came close to them was his wife's and his family and the the family of the PAPD. He loved you all because on more then one occasion he told be so. Let us be blessed by his life and his being.
Blessed are the peacemakers,For they shall be called sons of God." Matthew 5:9
