It has been almost seven years since Fred was killed and about 13 years since I last saw him. Occasionally, I check this memorial page to see if anyone else has written a reflection. I often wonder if Fred's family knows how much he meant to so many people.
To Fred's family; I hope that you are at peace knowing that Fred is with the Lord. I hope you know that he touched my life, and many others. Most of all, I hope that you are all still in my prayers.
God Bless.

Dear Fred:
It has been 5 long years since that fateful day. You were a "Cop's Cop" to the end. Though I have never had the honor to meet you, sir, I feel very close to you. For several years now, I have worn a bracelet on my right wrist with your name on it, and the date of "9/11/01".
Thank you, sir, for the dedication and the sacrifice you so willingly made, not only for those in the Trade Center, but for freedom loving people everywhere. And for those of us who wear the badge, you made us proud to be in the same profession as you. You epitomize what police officers are all about...the will to serve AND protect, even at great personal cost to ourselves.
The very blanket of freedom that we as Americans enjoy, is given to us by people such as yourself, who have proven that freedom is not free. Your name, and your sacrifice will NEVER be allowed to be forgotten. Not with the Memorial in Washington, in our hearts, and as long as I wear this bracelet with your name on it. And sir, I wear it with pride and honor, now and as long as our Heavenly Father will allow me. Rest in peace, we carry on in your name and spirit, and those who made the sacrifice with you.
May God bless your family, ease their sorrow, and hold you near to His heart for all eternity. The terroists may have had success in killing thousands of innocent people, but they will NEVER be successful in killing the American spirit, because of people like you. Amen.

I was introduced to Director Morrone one time (on the sidewalk outside of Katz Deli in NYC). It was a few months before 9/11; he could not have been nicer and more down to earth.
Rest in Peace, brother Trooper.

I met Fred when he was my boss as a corporate director of security for a casino. He would come to the Mississippi coast from New Jersey and guide us in our jobs.
I can remember talking to Fred as a young man and picking his brain about life. He was a physically strong man, who instantly gained the respect of others by the way he carried himself. He was the kind of man that I longed to be.
I eventually entered the law enforcement profession and lost contact with Fred. I never got a chance to tell him what I thought of him and what an impression he had left on me.
To the family of Fred Morrone, he was a great man whom I admired greatly. Fred touched my life. Every chance I get, I tell people about my friend from New Jersey. I went to New York to get his name from the twin towers memorial. "Fred V. Morrone" is hanging in my office to remind me what kind of man I should be.
My prayers are with Fred's friends and family.

Despite the high number of deaths to our public safety professionals, know that your heroic efforts did not go unnoticed...rest well my brother and know that your sacrifices that day brought a few tears of relief to those who were fortunate to escape because of your actions.

To those of you who have posted messages; Thank You. A Hero is the man who goes home to his children everynight, who works hard to provide for his family and someone who watches over others, as a civilian or civil servant. Fred Morrone was all of these and more...I miss you.

There are but two persons who protect the sinful human race from destroying itself. One is God's Holy Spirit. The other is the Peace Officer. Without them, we would all perish at each other's hands.
You were called into this profession and our Lord and Savior has blessed you because:
According to Romans 13.1-5...
God ordains the Peace Officer’s profession.
The Peace Officer is sent by God.
The Peace Officer is vested with God's authority to enforce the law.
A Peace Officer's badge is to be honored by us, because God honors it.
You gave the ultimate sacrifice, your life for your fellow man, while serving, defending, and protecting others in your community.
Thank you for your service to America. Your efforts saved thousand that horrible day.
My thoughts and prayers go out to your family and friends. You will be in our hearts forever.

I tried to attend as many funerals as I could during these darkest of days as my way of showing respect to families and coworkers of all of my brother and sister Officers and Firefighters. I cannot find the words to say how sorry I am that we have lost these great heroes. I cannot express my thanks enough for your bravery and sacrifice. My prayers are with you and all of your families......................AC

I was privilaged to call Fred V. Marrone friend for over a decade. We shared travel, good times, food and dreams.
A street kid from Brooklyn, he rose first to the top ranks of the NJ State Police and than the Port Authority Police without ever loosing sight of what was important in life;love of family, God, and his fellow man. Your garden will never been as lush again. The very earth misses you
I join his widow Linda and family in mourning a true hero who died helping others survive.
Fred, I miss you. You will forever live in my heart and mind.

My Prayers are with all the friends and family of all the officers who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
I lost my brother tragically, Det. David Taylor, Greensboro PD, On August 7, 2001. I was in NY for my fiancee's Mother's funeral the first of Sept. I was stranded there for 3 weeks due to this atrocity. As I watched the events on TV, I cried for all those who lost their lives. But was especially emotional about the Police Officers and the Firefighters and their families, as I had just recently suffered a tragic loss myself. As I walked through the streets in the days following the attack, I cried with pride as I saw the officers on duty on all the corners in the city. I knew how hard it was for them, knowing they had lost their friends. On the Sat. following the attack I was at St. Patrick's for mass. The last 2 people to go up and take communion were 2 NYPD officers, again I cried. I hope all of you are getting the support that my family and I got when we needed it, from the Deparment. I know the comforting words and even the funny stories the officers tell us about my brother helps. I know that our loved ones who are gone from here, had a higher calling and are happy and at peace in Heaven. Hopefully we can all feel that same peace one day! God bless All of you! And God bless America!

God I don't know what to say. I intend to post this message for each and everyone of you heroes so Officer, Detective, Agent, Whatever,... I thank you. You swore to serve and to protect. Well your days of protecting us are over. But you will forever be in service. Your eternal service... the inspiration you and your fellow bothers and sisters have re-enforced in my heart, will live so long as I do. Though I will not always carry your name in the front of my mind, not in my duties as a soldier or as the police officer I plan to become when I get home, I will still always carry with me the knowledge of your sacrifice... of your heroism, of your selflessness... I will carry a samll piece of you everywhere I go. Be it with an M-16 in my hands in a strange land, or a badge on my chest in my own back yard... long after the flags come down and the nation carries on... until the day I die... you will continue to serve... as my inspiration. God bless you. God bless your family. God bless your agency. God bless FDNY. God bless all the soldiers, sailors, airmen, coast guardsmen, and marines. God bless New York City. GOD BLESS AMERICA. Thank you my brothers and sisters. I love you.
