You are remembered today, and every day, here in the greater Rockford community. Your name is spoken and your life honored frequently. While I hate the circumstances that brought our families to meet, I’m forever thankful for your family’s strength and guidance. Thank you for your service and your sacrifice.

Touched by his courage and determination to do the right thing when he didn't have to on his off time. My second time seeing his story on Forensic Files. Cried more the 2nd time than 1st time.

I just finishing watching Forensic Files and the Senseless way you were gunned down was horrible. I just lost my little brother a year ago due to gun violence and this still haunts me. Knowing his newborn son will never know him. I pray His wife and children are at peace knowing the killer has been caught. I know that Kevin is watching over you all. He passed serving the community. God Bless you guys and thank you for sharing your story. Thank you for your 14years of service Rest In Peace Detective Rice

As much time has passed, I recall it all as though yesterday. I was working at a security chief at the time downtown Rockford & had several encounters w/ Det. Rice on-the-job. I was at-work the night it happened & heard all the police controls radio-chatter via my portable scanner.

{I initially thought it was a mach/surge-drill or some type of other training in-progress, as at the time, losing someone in law enf. in the area was almost non-existent.}

Such a horrific tragedy to such an accomplished & well-distinguished man in our city's public safety history.

~Lest we forget the dangers of policing is a 24/7 job. {God speed Detective!}

It's very difficult to imagine life without my father during my young years. Especially growing up knowing my father's life was taken by a human being for selfish reasons! I hope and pray the all might father will lend his guiding hand showing the off spring of Kevin Rice the ways of the world we live in. RIP Kevin!
