This man is my great, great grandfather. My grandfather was named after him. Without this man I would not be here as his great, great granddaughter. My grandfather was my father. I am sure that William Tilghman was an amazing man like my grandfather William Jackson Tilghman. My son has my grandfather's middle name "Jackson." I am now a law enforcement chaplain. Is it any surprise given my bloodline?

Dedicated More then 54 years on the job. The first to actually study the criminal code because he wanted to get it right. One of the most respected lawmen of his time. I am saddened by the fact that as of this date - I am still unable to find his name on the Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington,DC.

Marshall Bill Tilghman,

You are atop my list of legendary lawmen from times past. Your service is equivelent to that of Wyatt Earp and Bat Masterson. You did a great service for many communities not only in Oklahoma, but throughout the Great Plains. Thank you for who you are sir.

Marshal Tilghman was a true American/Oklahoman hero. I read about him while i was in junior high, and he should be admired and remembered.I believe his exploits and journeys were no less than any of the the more famous lawmen of any time or period; His story should be read by all. I believe he was the child of, Baltic state emigrant parents ( hard to remember, many years since i read his story) who believed in the law and the Oklahoma territory. Mr. Tilghman thank you for being an example/hero to a young man 50 years after your watch.
