Reflections for Police Officer Aubrey Wright Hawkins

Justice Texas style this past week. I hope your family will find some relief in knowing the savage that did this to you will never take another breath of the air men like you should be savoring.

Another one of the cowards who ended your watch has had justice served and has made his final journey. If there is truly justice, you will meet him at the gate to escort him to his final damnation. We stood vigil for you and your family so all know just what was taken from us. Rest well brother. We'll keep watch for you down here.

God bless your family. I was hired as an officer the week before your death by another agency in the metroplex, and my hiring officer asked if your murder changed my mind on becoming an officer. Absolutely not, if anything it reinforced the reason I wanted to become an officer. You are remembered and your life was precious.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 11th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

I pray for solace for all those who love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.

I knew Aubrey when I was 15 in dallas texas at lake highlands jr. high. he and I were very close then but we lost touch when my mother and I moved. When I saw his picture on the t.v. I was devestated its like god ripped out my hart. and still today it feels the same. He alway had that smile and everyone loved him. But he served and protected us well. I miss him soo much.I wish I could be there for his wife and son. I love and miss you Aubrey, rest well.

I always think of you and your family at Christmas time. Though I never knew you, I remember the terror felt throughout the state when the "Texas 7" escaped, less than 2 months after my father was killed in the line of duty. And then I saw your family at the Texas Peace Officer's Memorial in Austin the following May. For these reasons, I have always felt a connection with you and your family. May Texas never forget your sacrifice in your work to keep us safe from evil.

I just saw your photo again on the always remembered section. I remember when it all happened. I had been a police officer for only about six months and was deeply saddened by your death. It's been almost ten years and we will not forget the sacrifice you made.........
