This is the first time I have written to you Edward, please forgive.
I have come to this site many times and have read all the wounderful things that everyone has ever said to you and our family and it is overwhelming. I miss you so very much.
First I would like to say thank you to everyone who every knew my Edward. He was kind and loving, he would give the shirt off his back if you needed it. I also would like to thank everyone for their support throughout the years. I know I will see Edward again.
Today I found a picture of Edward holding his son Daniel when he was born. It was hard for me to see that. It hard to see all the years that Edward has missed with his kids. I also found a love letter from him, were he tells me that our love is genuine and for forever. That I was his heart, his soul his everything.
The fact is, that Edward and I, we made each other better. He made me a better person and I made him a better person. Now that I don't have you by my side anymore, I'm forever broken. The day you were taken from me my world was rocked.
I will always stay strong for our children Edward. Love U 4 ever.

I knew very little of my father because I was only 18 months old at the time of his death, but from the storys my mother tells me and the reflections everyone writes, I know that he was a good man and I wish that I could meet him. I know I will, in my dreams and one day I will meet him in soul.

What a great experience and privilege it was to meet Inez Toatley and her children, Taylor and Daniel, Sunday, 12-18-2011, in Naples, Fl.
We had about 14-15 motorcycles from the Florida IV Chapter of the Blue Knights International Motorcycle Club and 3 local County Deputies pull into their driveway.
After presenting the kids with their gifts, Taylor an ipod with a docking station and Daniel a HP laptop computer, we spent some time talking to them before leaving. We gave them a few business cards and told them to contact one of us if they needed anything. We also gave Inez a small silver pendant badge with the inscription 'Officer's Wife'.
The kids are very respectful and as well mannered as anyone could only imagine. I'm sure that their dad is very proud.

I was retired from the Miami-Dade Police Dept when this tragedy occurred. But as a member of the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club in Florida, several of us will be riding from the Ft Lauderdale area and will visiting his minor children, Taylor & Daniel, this Sunday, December 18th, 2011, in Naples, Florida. We will personally distribute Christmas gifts to his kids, an honor we appreciate being part of. We are bound to 'never forget' our fallen brothers and sisters that live in our State. He has earned his place next to the Throne and now sits with the lion and the lamb. Rest in Peace my Brother.

I first met Ed. at the Bel Air Barracks while he was a cadet. We immediately became friends.Later I was lucky enough to be his group supervisor at the Annapolis Barrack. The fondest memory I have of our MSP experience was the rescue of a family of ducklings that somehow ended up on U.S. Route 50. As the group Sergeant and with the imput of my group Ed. included. we closed down Route 50 and rescued the ducklings. From that day on Ed.said that it was a MSP S.E.A.L. team operation and I was henchforth named Bill "Pappy" Harden by Ed. and the other group members. Ed.was without a doubt the best undercover officer many of us has ever known. He truly loved his wife Inez and his family. His name is and has been hung on a wall in my home copied from the LEO Memorial in DC.I have and will continue to miss him forever. Bill "Pappy" Harden.

Many fine things are written here about you. I don't know
what is more deadly, the war on terrorism or the war on drugs. You were very courageous and steadfast in doing what
you knew to be the best for our country at such a high cost.
May the Lord Jesus continue to heal and comfort your loved
ones and all who trust in Him. Thinking of you on this 9th
anniversary of your passing.

Ed,
It has been eight years since your passing. You've been in my thoughts often...This is the first time I've been able to actually write about you. I remember the first time I met you, it was at BelAir barrack and you were waiting for the "kiddie bus" (cadet truck). We later laughed about our initial meeting when we worked together in the Narcotics Division. I am blessed to have worked on several cases with you and even more blessed that you were my friend and brother". Thank you so much for your tireless efforts to help others and rid the cities of America of drugs. For those that do not know, you were MSP's ace undercover officer.
You had a smile that could light up a room and a heart that was even bigger. I know you are with our Savior. Rest my friend until we meet again.

As the world remembers you as TFC Edward Toatley, I will alway remember you as my homey MC. As we grew up together you were a major influence in my life and always had that warped witicism and sense of humor that eventually would make someone think. Like the brother I never had there was always love whether eating dinner at your parents house or you eating at mine.
As your career with the MSP began I felt honored you had given me the opportunity to ride and experience your career which gave me a different outlook on the agency. But I knew that you were going to bigger and better things when you told me I couldnt ride anymore.
I knew then that you were on that quest to make a statement to society and demonstrate how a First Class Trooper could benefit Maryland. I miss you "dogg" and your often on my mind from the time that we shared here. To watch Twon I know that your influence is still around, it just couldnt be you to go away and not leave a mark just to make someone smile.

On the 8th anniversary of Trooper Toatley's death, we honored his service in our patrol briefing by reading his entry from ODMP. Each day, we honor one fallen officer on the anniversary of their death so as to keep them in our thoughts, and also to remind us of the dangers inherent in our job. Trooper Toatley is not forgotten.

Even though eight years have passed, the pain of losing you has not lessened. You are still the first thought on my mind each day I awaken and I constantly pray that the Lord continues to guide and protect your children. You are still my hero...my brother.
