My partner and I were assigned to the hospital where they took Robert after the accident to "watch" over his family as a courtesy. And although I didn't know you personally, after spending three nights with your family and friends in that hospital waiting area talking, laughing, crying and praying I felt as if I did.
A year later my partner and I attended the National Police Memorial in Washington DC as we had lost a brother in the Cleveland Police Department a month after Roberts tragic accident and they were reading his name off with all the other hero's lost in the past year. As we were leaving Arlington National Cemetery we happened upon a few familiar faces. It was Robert's mother and a few other family members we had gotten to know the previous year. After staring at each other for a few moments in disbelief, we shared some hugs and of course more tears. I truly believe fate brought us together that day.
I think of you and your family often. Thank you Trooper Perez for your greatest sacrifice and for protecting the citizens of the great State of Ohio. You'll never be forgotten.

My partner and I were detailed to the hospital where Robert was taken after the accident. We spent 3 nights with his family in the hospital waiting room talkng, laughing, crying and praying. Although I didn't know you personally, being around your family and friends I felt as if I had.
Almost a year later to the day, that same partner and I traveled to Washington DC to attend the National Police Memorial as we had lost a fellow brother in the Cleveland Police Department that same year and his name was being read. As we were leaving Arlington National Cemetery we happened upon a few familiar faces, Roberts mother and family. We all looked at each other in disbelief. Brief greetings and hugs were given and yes, a few more tears. My thoughts and prayers are always with you and your family. Thank you for your service and ultimately for your greatest sacrifice protecting the citizens of the great State of Ohio. You are truly missed.

I dont know much about you, only the best relayed from your brother Tone(Tony). All that I know is that I heard that you were a squared away state trooper and I appreciate all that you were able to do to secure our safety in the state of Ohio.

I didn't know Robert, but his memorial has become part of the scenery as we travel back and forth between cities. Each time we pass mile marker 121, I nod a greeting. For service given and sacrifice in the line of duty…for his reminder that I need to live every day like it is a gift, I leave a thought of thanks.

Robert Perez, you are not forgotten. Especially by me.

I worked with him at LPD when he was a CO. He was so proud to become a Trooper and he would have done amazing things in his career if he had the chance. He was taken way too soon and is truly missed! Family was very important to him and our thoughts are with them this week and always. RIP my friend until we see you again!

I remember the days at CP and later trying to talk to Robert while he was polishing the items in the museum at the academy. He was not suppose to talk to me but OSPs rules for cadets was not going to stop friendship. You, and that hat, are missed.

I drove by a memorial in your honor today on the way home to Michigan. What a tragic loss. I just wanted to let you know a tear was shed and I am certain you are greatly missed by many. RIP Officer Perez, and your service was greatly appreciated. I am saddened for your family's and your fellow troopers loss. You were in my thoughts today.

Tpr Perez, I was travelling home today with my family when I noticed the memorial on the right shoulder of the Ohio Turnpike. I work for the Illinois Tollway and am assigned to the Illinois State Police - District 15 which patrols the Illinois Tollway system. March 28, 2013 we lost a young trooper in a similar manner.

Rest in Peace, your fellow TROOPERS will care on.

Dear Robert, JR

I, too, learned about you from your dear father, Bobby. He cut my hair yesterday in Cleveland and gave you honor by telling me how you encouraged him to leave the post office and get into full time barbering.

He is a very neat man. I'm so glad he taught you the Lord's ways. I look very forward to meeting you some day in heaven. Rest in peace dear brother in Christ.

P.S. The haircut I got yesterday is the best one I've gotten in years. Your dad is an excellent & very skilled barber.

Robert, you were a very dear and close friend that I miss. I can't talk enough about the fun we had, about how you always made light of any situation and made anyone around smile and laugh, no matter how bad it was.you. no matter how gloomy the day was, you brought the sunshine out and made that day even better. I will always remember you as one of the happiest people that I've ever known. You loved life and gave it your fullest attention, each and every day. I don't remember a day that you didn't have a smile on your face, or a joke being told. You will always be a great friend of mine and I will neverforget about you. As we graduated from high school. You became a friend of all friends, and a man of all men that will always live on in all of our memories. God bless you and may you always look over us, and never forget us, as we will do the same.
