He was my oldest brother, he was my mentor my rock. I became a certified big game tracker along with a hunter education instructor in memory of him. I miss him everyday, hard to believe it's been 20 years

Worked with Ray in the beginning of his career with corrections at Marcy CF. I’ll never forget him. I have his picture hanging in the office at Midstate CF. I talk about him often.

Dad,

If you only new how much you are missed. So many things have changed since that uneventful day when it seemed like the world came to a screeching stop. Mom, well she hasn't been the same and even today she thinks you are still somehow coming home to make everything ok. I try to be strong, I just wanted to say, thanks for all you did. Thanks for all you have taught Us and just know how much you are sincerely missed. I love you and miss you dearly.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 9th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Our deepest heart felt sympathy to the Family and Friends of Corrections Officer Raymond J. Curtis.  Thank you for your dedication and professionalism, from a greatful Nation. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. "For the mountains may be removed, and the hills may shake, but My lovingkindness will not be removed from you, and my covenant of peace will not be shaken." Isaiah 54:10

Officer John D.Sainz
Tucson Police Department

The Officer's stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
They hoped their shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as their brass.

"Step forward now, Officers.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"

The men squared their shoulders and
The Policeman spoke first
"No, Lord, I guess We ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.

We've had to work most Sundays,
and at times our talk was rough,
and sometimes we've been violent,
Because the streets are tough.

The Corrections Officer then added,
But we never took a penny,
That wasn't ours to keep...
Though we worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And we never passed a cry for help,
Though at times we shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive us,
We've wept unmanly tears.

Together they say,
We know We don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted us around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for us here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
We never expected or had too much,
But if you don't...We'll understand.

There was silence around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the Officers waited quietly,
For the judgment of their God.

"Step forward now, Officers,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."
