Reflections for Officer Troy Louis Barboza

Troy and I worked together at Moose McGillycuddy's. He was always such a pleasant caring and wonderful person. I was saddened to see the show last night however very happy that his life is remembered for all the good things. I send prayers to his family and friends and warm thoughts and memories of an outstanding individual.

I was doing work in the home of a very nice couple many years ago. In their bedroom, I saw the picture of a sharp looking man and asked who he was. They said that he was their son. It was Officer Troy. I can remember well the shock and horror that I felt as they continued and told me the story of how they lost him. I will forever remember that couple and the legacy of a man I never met. God bless all of the Barboza family.

Heart shadowing. I am retired military and now volunteer with Wounded Warriors. Officer Barboza, Troy will surly be missed by mankind. Not everyone has the integrity, character or moral fiber to serve; to give to the needing(Special Olympics) of this world. Watching the story on ID channel and heart sinks. God Bless those who loved and worked with Troy Barboza.

Remembering you always as another police week comes to an end. Shared some memories of University Moose Mcgillycuddy's, UH, and recruit school with my ten-year old son. Reminded him that this is the Uncle Troy that the torch run was named after. Troy's memory and legacy will live on. Missing you brother! Much aloha ... always, Lani

Just watched an episode about your son and brother and I am so sorry that such an energy and spirit was taken from you...from all of us. He had a gentle and selfless soul, and will always be remembered for that.

I've searched for you my whole life. You're part of my journey here on the P.L. We have a whole family now of leos, attorneys, and two judges. Today you would be married, retired with children, and with grandchildren. Your life was stripped away by blowback for a drug purchase.

I thank those that pursued the perp and lured him into another drug purchase. He made the same mistake. This time incarcerated for life.
Though he lives, his quality of life is more than he deserves. A life for a life is what my emotions say. But my heart knows I am not able to pass judgement. I must forgive. I forgive your murderer and ask God to forgive me for passing judgement. We all stand one day before The Lord. Troy, all I can offer is the power of a prayer. It is where my strength lies.

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for guiding the hearts of those Police Link members to help me find my cousin Troy Louis Barboza. I pray his soul has found thy eternal peace Heavenly Father and that thou would continue to have his story touch all those who visit his memorial.

I thank thee for those officers that caught the perpetrator who slain Troy and caused his premature departure from this mortal life. May the Holy Spirit pass through each and every person that visits this memorial. May every leo and visitor feel the love that's been left here for Officer Barboza.

More importantly, may the man who killed my cousin be forgiven for his transgressions and find redemption through Jesus Christ. These things I ask with a humble heart and a quiet spirit.
Amen

You will never be forgotten Troy, you have been found today because you were always remembered since the day I was born. I love you! Tehati xo

To Troy's family,

I met you in 1987 when I had the very sad, but honored duty, of assisting you in the burial of your courageous and hero son and brother, Troy. I was a Sergeant with Clayton PD and was one of Troys honor guards at the service. I remember well the Honolulu officers that escorted Troy's casket back to Clayton. And I remember well Troy's parents and loved one's.

As I spoke with you and the Honolulu officers in your home after the service, I remember feeling such a range of emotions from great sadness for your loss to extreme anger that Troy's killer had not yet been caught. I never knew Troy, but I know he was a hero and also my brother in blue.

I am retired now, but please know that I have never forgotten Troy. And also know "R", that Troy is with God. And blessed are the peacekeepers. Have faith in God, our father, and he will guide you in your journey with mom and dad.

Back in 1986, I was involved with SCI (Simulated Crime Investigation) at Ke Kula Makai in Waipahu, and I remember vividly Troy as one of the recruit back in the days.

It was one of my most rewarding experiences being part of the HPD SCI at the time it used volunteers to be involved.

Troy was one of those recruits back in the days, and how one persons uniqueness and I remember his positive influence on the rest of this group, I duly remember!

RIP Troy..

You were a senior, when I was a freshman at Clayton Valley High. Michelle had such a crush on you (my best friend), I had a crush on your best friend, (Mike Randolph). I remember you teasing me when Mike nearly ran me down in his car speeding up Turtle Creek Rd. But you were cute about it, not mean. Michelle and I looked up to you both as the heroes of the school.

When you died, I went to your funeral. It was packed, not only with fellow officers, but with all your friends from high school. I couldn't imagine how anyone could point a gun at your beautiful head and pull the trigger. I was devastated. I remember laying a rose on your chest as I walked by you to say goodbye.

You'll never be forgotten, and I'm so happy that there is an annual memorial to you in Hawaii.

Much love.

It's coming up to the Annual Troy Barboza Law Enforcement Torch Run and I've been thinking of you.

I'd like to meet your parents and tell them what a wonderful person you were (although I suspect that they already know that).

Miss you...

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 24th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace. I pray for solace for your family and loved ones. Reading about the circumstances of your brutal murder saddened me. You were so young, but I can tell from the remembrances of those who knew you that you made an impact on so many peope. You were truly one of the good ones that brought joy to those who love and care for you still.

Your soul is now in a place where angel's play. Your spirit has been playing in our souls since you've departed the white sandy beaches of Honolulu. We've left the eternal lights of Honolulu burning for you my brother! We'll someday join together and embrace away the missing moments we were unable to share...

Found this website today, the start of police week. Today, we honor the fallen -- to include you and Randy. You both are truly missed and always fondly remembered. Our class leader is doing his best to keep the class together -- all of us -- those in the force, those that have left, and all of you that have gone before us. Long live "92 in the blue"!
