Troy, coming up on 26 years since you gained your wings and I still think about you and what your life would be like today. Your birthday is in two days and your loved ones would be celebrating you. You would most likely be happily married to the same person, have children and grandchildren. Possibly still be a dedicated to serve and protect or maybe retired. Thank you for making our world a safer place.

It's been over 24 years since I found out you were gone. I will never forget our summer together before you left for college. driving to the beach. laying on a blanket on the sand together talking about anything and everything. You were such a gentleman. I'm sorry you never got married (my heart hurts for your girlfriend/finance' you left behind) had children and grandchildren. Your killer deserved the death penalty for taking your life that day. 24 years later and your still missed.

Another October is here, and I am reminded of your friendship, support, and the service you provided as a Honolulu Police Officer. You are well remembered as your birthday and anniversary of your passing are here again. You are always in the hearts and minds of the 92nd Class, and many friends and family left behind. Much alofa always, Lani

Rest in peace Officer Barboza. Your killer deserved death for the way he killed you, he stalked you, found where you resided and in cold blood killed a hero.

Familia Barboza;

My condolences to the family, Troy’s mother and sister. I have just now watched a film about this tragedy.
So pity, that such a talented, young, handsome guy was killed by a monster with no brain, as this murder didn’t play any role in the future trial.

Rest In Peace, Troy.

With regrets and respect,
Lilia from Moscow, Russia.

RIP

I just watched the Investigation Discovery series and watched the episode about HPD’s Officer Troy Barboza’s murder. We are military and both my husband & I and my two sons are all Navy veterans who lived in Hawaii for about 7 wonderful years. We belonged to and participated in one of the canoe clubs there, where we made quick & special friends with some of the great law enforcement participants in our particular canoe club. Hawaii quickly became a special second home to us where we indulged in those special friendships.
To hear of another HPD Officer loss is still heartbreaking, especially this gentle giant of a man with a heart of gold! Blessings to Officer Troy’s Family n friends and RIP to this awesome young man, who was helping to make his city ridden of unnecessary crime, drugs and senseless violence! God bless you Troy for your service & sacrifice! You will never be forgotten!!

I was a classmate and friend of Troy's at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. It was his dream to be a law enforcement officer, and he was so proud to have been selected to join the Honolulu Police Dept. I can't believe it's been over 30 years since his passing. He was a good man, and I'll always remember him fondly and with a smile.

Just thinking of you today as many of our classmates have retired from service. You have come up in a lot of conversations while I have been training a new class of dispatchers -- all good things. Especially, recalling how I had to tell all the University of Hawaii classmates that the bouncer form Moose's Pucks Alley is in my recruit class. Love and miss you very much. Alofa tele, Lani

I am in Tbilisi, Georgia (country). Yesterday, 9 September, 2014 I saw a documentary on the ID channel about the Officer Troy Barboza which left me deeply moved. Troy was so handsome and promising and brave and courageous too. It is unfortunate that such people as Troy have to leave us so early... Troy dead and the ugly criminal who took his life still alive, in jail, but alive is not just and fair...
Rest in peace, Troy Barboza...

I saw On ID today, July 3, 2014 that you were from Clayton, CA. I was about your age and lived in El Cerrito, Ca. You looked like you could have been my brother. Your contribution to special athletics truly touched my heart. I pray that your family will always know how much you were honored, respected and loved. May God always look over your family. God Bless.

I recently saw the saw on ID tv. I grew up in Concord and was living in Concord at the time of you death, you were three years younger than me. I don't remember the shooting at that time, I'm sure I would have remembered. After seeing your story I just feel so sad for the loss of an exemplary human being. I pray for your parents and know that someday you will be reunited in heaven. God bless you Troy!
