On today the 96th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you to you and your fellow officer for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Seattle. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Sgt. Weedin was my great-grandfather. Of course, I never met him, but his story has been told to me since I was a child. I don't think many people realize that there were, at last count, five generations of Weedins on the Seattle Police Force. A proud tradition for that side of the family. I know I'm proud to be a descendent of such a brave man.
