Officer Washington et al,
Your sacrifice and willingness to risk your life to save others is a testament as to what kind of man you were. Thanks for being there for your fellow officers, and thanks for serving during WWII. Your service to the citizens of Kansas and your service to this great nation are/is greatly appreciated by your fellow law enforcement officers, far and near.

September 20, 1948 was one of the most tragic days Kansas City, Missouri ever experienced with the death of three officers that night and another seven days later as the result of a single shooting. Condolences to surviving family and friends and the law enforcement community. Rest in Peace. This man's sacrifice has not been forgotten.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the sixty-first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
