Reflections for Police Officer William E. Wagner

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 86th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Rest In Peace

My father was eight and my mother four, both living in Detroit when your watch ended. The city and its residents remain in my heart to this day. Looking at your photograph it looks like your watch ended just yesterday. Rest well in peace and honor sir. You will never be forgotten.

When I went to the ODMP site today, your memorial was the first to appear on the home page. Since I'm from Michigan, formerly Detroit, I wanted to take the time to leave a reflection. I also noticed that it has been just a few days over the 80th year anniversary of your line of duty death. You died young, you died protecting. Thank you for the ultimate sacrifice. I'm sorry that your parents, sibling and other family members had to live the rest of their lives without you, and that you were robbed of your years. May you rest in peace. By now, your parents are with you and you are all together again. God bless you all! And, God bless the Detroit Police Department too!

Each day I try to read the ODMP. Today I read your story. No officer who gives his/her life for us need ever be forgotton. You died a hero; rest in peace.

You have been gone for so long, and as you can see, you have not been forgotten (thanks to the ODMP). Somehow, the family of fallen police officers keeps expanding--we are all one big family. Rest in peace, Officer Wagner.
