Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Trooper Gary L. Wade

I was watching the news story tonight about the ceremony for the Fallen Heroes and Gary popped up in my mind. I was a friend of his sister Linda and his cousin Marcella and knew all of the Wade kids, their parents and uncles. I remember getting the news of his passing and attending his funeral. It was such a shock, he was so young. He was a great guy and very much loved by his friends and family. They were so proud of him.

Thank you all for your sacrifice and your service.

I’m so glad your name is along I-95. I searched your name online and found this site and was able to read others’ memories and learn what an extraordinary man you were. Thank you for your service, to the point of death. I am fortunate - my husband was law enforcement for 35 years and now in retirement, I have him beside me. Your family was not given that opportunity. God bless you.

Although you were called home 32 years ago, it still feels like we were joking and kidding with each other yesterday. The day you left here, a large part of my heart left with you.
I miss you so much!

Gary even though you have been gone for some time I always take time to call upon your Family to let them know your not forgotten. As roommates in the Academy for a short time I got to know a quality individual. I really remember the time in the boxing ring during self defense class you rang my bell for sure, ha.
Miss ya buddy and you were a cut above the rest of the Troopers in our Class for sure.

Not before I met you nor after you left have I found a man with your strength, your caring, your endless love and your wit. I miss those strong arms around me in times of sadness; arms that let me know that I would always be safe and that you'd be there to protect and love me. I have been in limbo since you've been gone. Can't think past our plans for our children, plans to adopt, move into our new house and, as you said, sit on the porch in our rocking chairs when we got old. I loved you with all my being then and I still do now. Forever your love, Sandy

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 30th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

I pray for the solace of all those who love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. I hold your family in my heart's embrace today.

Rest In Peace.

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Rest easy in the arms of the Lord brother... and say hello to my Auntie Maude and brother 'Rell who joined your heavenly estate in 2004.....

CROSSING OVER ..... A NEW BEGINNING

Like each tiny grain of sand, through an hourglass
flowing
Our lives shift gently, without any definite
peroid of time,
Some of us soar slowly, like birds flying upon
feathery wings
While others seem to pass quickly, like fresh
grapes on a vine.

It is hard to tell your loved one good bye, if
only for a while
Though you know your souls later, will be forever
inter-twined,
Missing their arms surrounding you, and their
face filling smile
Yet they're always there guiding you, if you're
open to their signs!

When you just can not picture, how life without
them could be
Tears filling your eyes, as a swelling stream
never ending,
If you just think about God's love, then you
suddenly will see
What one thinks of as death, is truly a life
peacefully beginning !!

So grieve as you must, but don't let it take away
your life
Given so preciously to us, from our Lord God up
above,
Whether a Sister, brother, son, daughter,.....
husband or wife
Everyone is blessed by our Savior, with beautiful
eternal life!
