Happy Fathers Day, Grandpa T! Your grandchildren never got to meet you, but rarely does a day go by where I don't think about you, your sacrifice and the stories I've heard about your wonderful, short life. Thank you for your service and sacrifice.

Love,

In memory of Indiana State Trooper Don Turner on the 57th anniversary of his in line of duty sacrifice on January 28, 1956.

The family of Trooper Turner should know how grateful my Wife and I are for the gift of his Granddaughter Anne. She is the Daughter of his Son Jeff, and her Mother Susan, and as of December 31, 2012, the Wife of my Son Rudi. We in law enforcement always respect our Brothers and Sisters lost in the line of duty, but we NEVER FORGET those that served in the same organization. Please know; Dave, Patty, and Jeff, that January 28, 1956, will always be memorialized by the I.S.P., and the extended Eidam family.

My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Dad, I was 3 years old when you left your son, Dave's, 6th birthday party to answer the call of an auto accident. I don't have any personal memories of you, since I was so young then, but many have shared with me their memories. I am proud of you and of all law enforcement officers who serve, no matter their level of sacrifice. This is the 50th anniversary of your passing. You are not - and will not be - forgotten.

Love, Jeff

Our Greatest Fear
Yet once again the Thin Blue Line is diminished,
an officer’s final tour of duty is finished.
"Officer down", it’s our greatest fear,
and once again, I hold back a tear.
They patrol in the state, city, county and town,
in uniforms colored white, green, blue and brown.
The shape of their badges may vary,
but it’s a symbol that they all, proudly carry.
They leave for work with a kiss goodbye,
but some don’t come home, no matter how hard they try.
To uphold the law is the job that they pick,
with such high aspirations, why must some die so quick?
They leave behind loved ones, family and friends,
after their lives have met tragic ends.
Some die in crashes, others hearts not too stout,
too many have been lost when gunshots ring out.
Our Heavenly Father has called them home,
no more these dark streets do they roam.
Through trial and error they have given their best,
please Lord, now grant them eternal rest.
Yet once again the Thin Blue Line is diminished,
an officer’s final tour of duty is finished.
" Officer down", it’s our greatest fear,
and once again I hold back a tear.
