Reflections for Constable John L. Taylor

Great Uncle Johnny, I heard this story all my life from my mother Helen Taylor Sanders Brown and my Aunt Elsie Mae Rideout. My granddad Plunk Taylor loved you so much and it hurt him dearly to lose you. My son, Chandler Jay Blackwell will be started the NC Highway Troopers on 8/11/2023 and I prayed you are his guardian angel. We may have never met, but I love you. It is an honor to remember you.

Constable Taylor, I never knew you personally, but, I want to thank you for your service and ultimate sacrifice. You were a true hero. I will share your story because I believe as Officer Zambito....as long as someone speaks your name in remembrance, you are truly not forgotten.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 65th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service to my home state and the birthplace of my son. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

Constable Taylor,
Though I never knew you, I would like to take a moment to say thank you. It is officers such as you that paved the way for the rest of us to enter this profession. We owe a debt of gratitude for your ultimate sacrifice. As a brother of a fellow officer from your agency, I know the tremendous pride he feels putting on that Wake Forest uniform and I know he serves as proudly as professionally as you did. Your death was not in vain Constable Taylor, you gave your life for the good of humanity. That in itself makes you a TRUE HERO. Rest in peace brother.
