Reflections for Detective Darrell J. Suer

I knew your sister, who was my Mom's best friend. I remember the day you died, and the grief and sorrow of your family. And I remember their pride in your courage, your devotion to your duty to the public, and the love you had for so many. Your watch ended long ago, but you will always be honored, and loved by those who knew you.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 50th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Darrell James Suer this name resonates deep with in me not only because this great man is my granfather but also because I share his name. This man sacrificed himself for what he believed in. I am proud to carry my grandfather's name and I hope that he is also proud of me. So all in all I salute you and what you stood for Darrell J. Suer and I wish I can be atleast half the man you were. May you rest in peace.
