Reflections for Police Officer David Henry Strzalkowski
Rest in Peace, Officer Strzalkowski. Your sacrifice is not forgotten.
Officer 11169
February 14, 2012
You will never be forgotten.
Your wife has gone on to do great things for Police Officers, especially those who have fallen.
Charles Street was killed in prison and that denied me the request I made to the Governor to attend his Execution.
I was there that night and wish I could have done more to prevent this tragedy.

Every year I relive this tragic event. I kept thinking how his mchildren will only know their father through words and pictures.
Mrs, Strzalkowski has gone on to do great things for all Police officers especially those that have fallen. Thank you so much.

Dave,
You were a true friend, always smiling and always showing off many pictures of your son. Roll Calls were never the same since that day. There is a copy of your badge out in the lobby at Station 6 right next to Richies badge. Both Eric and Sean recieved small copies of your badge to wear next to thier heart. I will always remember that horrible night. Rest in peace my friend.

I just recently discovered the horrible story about your end of watch, despite having driven by the sign of your name & that of fellow Officer Boles almost every day for many years taking my children to their school. I've had the fortune of working with your kind wife for 4 1/2 yrs. & must admit that upon learning further details of the incident, my son caught me crying. We vowed to do something special in memorium - beginning with visiting this site suggested by a fellow "boy in brown".

To The Family of Officer Strzalkowski:
I wanted to offer my sympathies on your tragic death along with your partner Officer Boles. You are missed by your family, friends and colleagues. The bravery and courage you both displayed will never be forgotten. I lived nearby in the Aventura area and pass quite often by the 203rd St. sign that bears both of your names. My dad was a New York City officer for almost 40 years. Rest in peace Officer Strzalkowski.

I was working North Miami Beach PD the night you left us. I was the second car on the scene and to this day can close my eyes and recall every detail about it. I still remember the frustrated feeling inside me, knowing there was nothing we could do to save you. I'm sure you and Richie are 09 as a 2 man unit patroling the streets of Heaven.
Rest in Peace Brother.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the twenty-first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
I pray for the solace of all those who love and miss you. Both the pain and pride are forever.
Rest In Peace

You dont know me, however, I had the honor of meeting your wife, Debbie, this past year. She is a very warm, funny, caring person, probably among many of the things you loved about her. She is doing spectacular with regards to her continued police life, and I can only aspire to be some of what she represents in regards to C.O.P.S. You would be immensely proud of her.

The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

As the years have passed it is becoming more and more difficult to remember all the good times I spend with David (my brother-in-law). My greatest memory of Dave was when he took me out with him during one of his shifts in Dade County while he was a police officer. I will never forget the professional approach Dave had no matter what the call was. I can still remember how Dave used to transform from a normal guy and once he put on that uniform was so proud of what he had become a police officer in Dade County.
I will never forget you David.
