Reflections for Correctional Officer Earl Cranston Strickland

Officer Strickland,
On today, the 50th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of the state of North Carolina. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy. There is no tougher job in Law Enforcement than that of a Corrections Officer.

Rest In Peace Brother LEO. Thank you and your family for your sacrifice and service. Never forgotten.
May the scum/coward who took your life rot and suffer forever. How does a double murderer sentenced to life get out after only 22 years?

Officer Mike Robinson(Ret.)
Upland Police Dept. CA

I will never understand how a murderer is convicted, sentenced to life, then released after serving 22 years?? RIP CO Strickland. Thank you for your service.

Time may have passed but you are not forgotten. I believe as long as someone remembers you or speaks your name, you are still with us.
Thank you for your heroism.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 43rd anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service to my home state and the birthplace of my beloved fallen officer. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

I pray for the solace of all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.

Rest In Peace.

My father Correctional Officer Earl Cranston Strickland left behind a wife that was expecting twins and a daughter. I am one of the twin daughters,my life was changed before I was born due to not having the opportunity to meet my father. I have been told by many that he was a kind and compassionate man and always had a kind word .

The criminals who murdered my father were released in 1991 and I have been told that Inmate Resendez died in Cochran prison this past February in California and his counter part is still alive in North Carolina. They will never know what lives they changed not only my family but the Wilcox family who they also committed crimes against.

Rest in piece my father

Officer Strickland,

Thank You for your service in the DOC. Many people don't realize the dangers we face on a day to day basis. Armed with only Pepper Spray and a Baton to defend ourselves against multiple inmates. Blessed Be Officer Strickland. We'll take the watch from here.

I just wanted to let your family and friends know that there are many out there who know the pain that you feel today. My brother Roger was killed 4 years ago today June 2nd. You are in the thoughts and prayers of many folks who care. I pray that God will bless you with many precious happy memories to help fill your heart "especially today".

On your aniversary date, thanks for your service. What a slap in the face for a thug to recieve a life sentence and get paroled. To bad that life sentence really doesn't really mean that. Rest in peace Brother, we have the compound now.

Officer Strickland, may you always be remembered as a hero and one that stood up in the face of danger and paid the ultimate price. I just cant believe your family was injusticed as the inmate was given a life sentence and ultimately paroled. Your family deserved a much stiffer penalty.

Godspeed Officer Strickland, we know you'll always keep watch on us.

MY BROTHER, MAY GOD BLESS YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE AND SACRIFICE. A HERO FOR SURE. MAY YOU REST IN PEACE. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO ADD THAT IT AMAZES ME THAT A MAN THAT HAS TAKEN TWO HUMAN LIVES FROM THIS WORLD COULD BE PAROLED.

The work that we do in corrections is dangerous and takes a very special person to perform the tasks required of us. Officer Strickland is a hero and will not be forgotten.

Rest in Peace.

C.O. Strickland died the day I was born. I spent two years as a C.O. myself and can only imagine how his tough his job had to be...I'm sure, like everything else, the dynamics of the workplace has changed dramatically. I can say that correctional officers do a lot for little pay and little recognition. Thank you, C.O. Strickland for your time and dedication.
