Reflections for Deputy Marshal John C. Stephenson
Your memory lives on with the research of the ancestry of your descendents and descendants of your sisters and brothers. I have searched since your memorial for YOUR descendants and think I may have found one today--actually he found me. I will be sure that your memorial plaque is given to your descendants, where it should rightfully be, so they can always remember you as you are realized by them to be an important part of their heritage. Rest in peace. Give Isabella my love and tell her we have not forgotten any of you. (From your sister Isabella's GGGgrandaughter)

Your heroism and service is honored today, the one hundred and thirty-seventh anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
Rest In Peace.
