Reflections for Police Officer Rush Stehlin

Today marks 100 years since you were killed in the line of duty. Last night, family and friends gathered to commemorate the anniversary. We spoke of your legacy and the ultimate sacrifice you made.

You spent your career making the world a better place and ultimately lost your life while serving our community. Although it has been 100 years since your passing, your legacy lives on and your sacrifice is not forgotten. I am proud to share your name and profession, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve and protect the same community you sacrificed so much for.

The same sacrifices that Officers faced in the early 20's are still occurring today in LE. I am saddened to read that this Officer who had many years of life left with his family was tragically killed by a violent criminal. He is not forgotten!

Although I never got to meet you, I like to think that the profession you chose and the character you possessed has been passed onto me, your great-granddaughter. I hope that as I begin my career in the law your memory and sacrifice will be a reminder of why I wanted to become a lawyer and how I can use my education to bring peace and justice to our world.
