Reflections for Officer Rush Stehlin

Nearly every day someone asks me about my name, and every time they do I share the heroic story of the man I was named after, my great-grandfather. I wish you were here to see the wonderful family you have created, a family that remembers and proudly shares your story.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 89th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

Sir, today marks 84 years you left us and but know that you will never be forgotten no matter how much time passes.

Although I never got to meet you, I like to think that the profession you chose and the character you possessed has been passed onto me, your great-granddaughter. I hope that as I begin my career in the law your memory and sacrifice will be a reminder of why I wanted to become a lawyer and how I can use my education to bring peace and justice to our world.
