Reflections for Sergeant Howard D. Starling
Rest in Peace, Sergeant Starling. Your sacrifice is not forgotten.
Officer 11169
February 9, 2012
this is the 44th anniversary of joining St. Michaels Department in heaven. It is said often that the fallen patrol
the peaceful streets of heaven but I do not believe St. Michael has recruited brave officers to patrol heaven. If they patrolled heaven why would they need wings? I believe the fallen are patrolling our violent streets and prisons on earth to protect citizens and police and CO's. Almost every officer who has been on the thin blue line for a while has a story about an
incident where they are sure that some guardian ran interference to keep them safe. That is what the fallen have been commissioned for. Perhaps that is why the best seem to be taken. And so Sgt. Starling I thank you as the mother of a police officer for all you do in the protection of our sons and daughters as they patrol dangerous streets and yards.

Correctional Officer's Farewell
We all know it can happen,
When we put our Colors on.
It only takes an instant,
Then one of us is gone.
Day to day we walk our beat,
In God we put our faith.
‘Cause we’re the law inside the wall,
We keep the Public safe.
You’ve done the job that few can do,
Your shift is at an end.
Farewell my Brother, Rest in peace,
On you we could depend.
