I said a little prayer today for Patrolman Smith and his family. He may be gone but never forgotten. He will always be a New York HERO.

Great-grandfather Nicholas B. Smith,
on this, the 101st anniversary of your death, know that your sacrifice was not in vain. I hope to uphold the honor and dignity you showed while a member of the Buffalo PD. Even though we never met, know that you hold a special place in my heart.
Ever Proud,
Nicholas M. Smith

Today is September 7, 2005, 100 years after you died. The man who took your life was never captured and went on to live his life. Your life may have been cut short but it was an honorable one, God bless you memory.
