Reflections for Marshal Ed Sims

Marshal Sims,
On today, the 100th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Maysville. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

I am the great granddaughter of Marshall Sims. I never knew him. His youngest son, who was with him on the fateful day, is my grandfather. I never knew him, but think of him often. I'm especially curious to learn about what happened to Olive Quinn. She would have been his wife and bearer of six children with him. I'd really like to know what happened to her. If anyone has information I would appreciate being contacted at [email protected].

Grandaughter of Marshall Sims daughter of son Charles E Sims. I remember summers in the 1940’s trips from northern Virginia to Georgia to see our Grandmother Pearl Sims known to us as ‘Mom Pearl’ and many Aunts Uncles and Cousins. It leaves me with fond memories of all of our visits.

He was the Great Grandfather I never met. I almost missed out on meeting his son, Boyd, my grandfather. Lucky for me I was able to form a relationship and loved him deeply.

I thank you all who have taken the time to comment. My heart is full of joy.

May the Lord keep all our men safe.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 88th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect, not even 88 years.

Rest In Peace
