Reflections for Patrolman Laurence V. Sheridan
Though the last reflection was left several months ago, I just now read it and for the first time put two and two together. I had the honor and pleasure of working with your Grandson and can truthfully say, you would be very proud of the cop he became. He was a colleague and later my supervisor and I always enjoyed working with him due to his knowledge, his sense of decency and his abilities. I cannot forgive the way he and others were treated, but he's doing well now and I'm glad for that.
It's not often I can truly make a connection with a fallen comrade, but now and then, the loss hits home, even if in an extended way.
May you continue to Rest in Peace, Brother.

This is my grandfather. We never got a chance to meet because of his great sacrifice for the rest of society.
My grandmother had to endure great hardships but was buoyed by vibrant sons who served valiantly in World War II and loving daughters who took care of her. As the decades pass our family has grown large. We do not see each other enough but all look to our grandparents as the core to a great family. I think of him every day as I put on my badge and pray for all of my colleagues as they go about their daily and dangerous jobs of protecting the public. His sacrifice will always live on with us....

Patrolman Sheridan, it was 69 years ago today that you were murdered by thugs while simply doing your job. I can only hope they received the justice they deserved. Your families mourn and we all pray you are Resting in Peace, Brother. God Bless.

No officer should be without a reflection. I send this one to thank you for giving the ultimate sacrifice and for paving the way for the future for us to follow, on the thin blue line. Thank you.
