As an 18 year old with the goal of becoming a police officer, I listened to the events of that night unfold over my police radio scanner. A few years later while doing a college internship at NPD met the officers who were there that night and learned of their bravery. I moved to Florida in 1979 and began my law enforcement career, which is nearing it's end after 42 years. I have seen additional good men die in the service of the people, but I have never ever forgotten Ofc. Robinson and Ofc. Bob Batanzos, who I got to know rather well. RIP.

Dear Officer Robinson,
You were always remembered and honored by my father Norm Masten, I attended a very emotional memorial to you back in the the early 90s with him, I still have pictures and newspaper clippings of your time with Newburgh PD as well that my parents have kept over the years in scrapbooks that I now have, I want you and your family to know that after 44 years your memory remains alive and honored forevermore.

Coming up on 42 years without you uncle Bill. Our lives have changed, family has grown. Stories remain the same, so many have suffered, cried, been devastated by your tragic departure. I pray for you & those who have suffered over these many years. I miss you. The boys are men now, grandfathers and their children are amazing. So much that you've missed. My heart is heavy. I've witnessed many officers funeral processions, each one takes me back to you. Its like yesterday we lost you . You may be gone but you are far from forgotten. We miss you... R I P , know that we still feel your presence and that your legacy lives on.

Uncle Bill, it's been more than 40 yrs since you left us. You are never forgotten . We lose officers almost daily and each one is tragic , as heart breaking as when you were taken from us . You now not only have 2 amazing sons but 5 grand children & 4&1/2 great grand children , your legacy is long . They too have not forgotten you . You are soooo very missed .
May God keep you always in his arms as we hold you in our hearts. ...

RIP uncle Bill. ...

Love,
Jody
