Your heroism and service is honored today, the 59th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Officer Richards was born 5 April 1892. He was 60 years old at the time of his death.
He was tall, had light brown hair and light brown eyes.
Vital Records lists his Christian/first name as "Wilmer" rather than "William."
At the time of the WWI draft, Officer Richards was married and had one child.
He was a native of Texas.
