Reflections for Detective Harry F. Raines

You see things like this happen, but you’d never think it would happen to your own family. It’s so tragic he had to loose his life this way. May you forever rest in paradise grandpa

Our Dad, Det. Harry F. Raines, didnt deserve to die at such a young age,33. He left 2 young daughters, Sharon and Harriet, and a loving wife Helen. Our lives changed drastically that fateful day, I am now 72 and still miss him very much. My sister Sharon and I often wonder how our lives would have been if our dad hadn't been murdered. Our lives were never the same. But we will meet again. God Bless all those who put their lives in danger for the safety of others.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 66th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

How wonderful that your family found this site and were able to leave reflections for you and see that you are still remembered.

Rest In Peace

I was 12 years old when my brother was killed in the line of duty. I remember I was home when my father received the telehone call. Harry was a good City Detective, Son, Brother, Husband and Father. We were all very proud of him for serving. We look forward to the day that we will all be together again.

Thank you for this site, it is a Blessed tribute to all the fallen officers. I was 4 when my father, Det. Harry F. Raines was so brutely gunned down, my only clear memory of him was seeing him in his casket. I am now 66, and I still think about him, and wish I had had him in my life much longer. God Bless all the brave men and women, in Law Enforcement, for their bravery. God keep you safe,
