My family lived two houses down from the Pollards. There son and I were playmates from the age of 5.

I was five years old when you were killed. Your wife Ruth (my second cousin) was like a mother to me. Some 30 years after your death I too became a Chicago Police Officer. Ruth came to my Police graduation. I remember her saying after seeing me in uniform "well you look like one of em" lol I never knew you. I'm retired now. But you were in always in my thoughts particularly when a Chicago police officer was killed in the line of duty. You and my beloved Ruth rest easy

DEAR POLLARD FAMILY,
WE WERE SUCCESSFUL IN KEEPING THE PIECE OF GARBAGE IN JAIL DURING A TRIP TO SPRINGFIELD FOR THE PAROLE HEARING THIS JAN. I HOPE THIS CAN BRING YOU SOME COMFORT BUT I KNOW THE PAIN OF LOSING YOUR FATHER IS A HEAVY CROSS TO BEAR. IT IS MY OPINION THAT OFFICER POLLARD WAS WITH US IN SPIRIT TO HELP FIGHT
HIS KILLERS RELEASE. GOD BLESS YOU AND IF YOU SHOULD EVER NEED ANYTHING PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME AT THE 012TH DISTRICT.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 44th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

I am glad to see that your department still has agency representation to protest the parole of your killer. There should never be parole for a murderer of a police officer killed while performing his or her duty.
Rest In Peace.

Charles,You have not been forgotten and the love of your fellow officers stands in high honor as they fight to keep those who took your life and keep them where they belong. God bless EVERY officer who took the time to keep your killer in prison. Never let this person walk the streets ever again. Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. As a family member of an officer killed in the line of duty I support capitol punishment for those convicted of murdeding police officers. May your memory never be forgotten.

Charley, I remember your smile and the way you made your fellow officers at the 010 District smile. It will be long remembered. You were an inspiration to many people.
I was the one who found your lifeless body, and I cried.
God Bless you, and may you be remembered always.
