Reflections for Police Officer John C. Phillips

While your assailant may have never been caught, he/she surely faced an unescapable court and justice by a much higher authority at a later time and in a different place. Thank you for your service and please know that no passage of time will ever erase you sacrifice. Rest in peace always.

Detective Cpl/3 Steven Rizzo
Delaware State Police (Retired)

Your heroism and service is honored today, the one hundred and twenty-first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

Officer Phillips - Three Fridays ago, on a very rainy morning, I stood in the State Assembly chambers when your name was one of almost 250 read off during a motion regarding next month's Peace Officers Memorial Week. You are not forgotten.

Thank you for your service to the people of the City of Denver and the State of Colorado.

May God grant you eternal rest and may His perpetual light shine upon you.

On the 120th anniversary of Officer Phillips' death, we honored his service in our patrol briefing by reading his entry from ODMP. Each day, we honor one fallen officer on the anniversary of their death so as to keep them in our thoughts, and also to remind us of the dangers inherent in our job. Officer Phillips is not forgotten.

Palo Alto (CA) Police Department

Officer Phillips' service and sacrifice will not be forgotten.

I stop by this website often after the death of two dear friends with the NCSHP (Troopers Calvin Taylor E.O.W. October 3, 2001 and Anthony Cogdill E.O.W. May 30, 2003). Unfortunately, I had to add the name of another friend recently. Deputy Jeffery Hewitt, Buncombe County (NC) Sheriff’s Department, E.O.W. April 4, 2004.

I want to honor all of those who gave their life in the line of duty. Although your death was many many years ago, you are still a hero.

God will serve the justice that was not served on earth.

God Bless the men and women who continue to serve their communities in our great Nation.

...Gone, but never Forgotten....

As the first Denver Police Officer killed in the line of duty, you will not be forgotten and neither will the family you have left behind. Rest in peace brother.
