Reflections for Park Policeman Harry S. Olsen

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 82nd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer

Time never diminishes respect and your memory will always be honored and revered.

The Lincoln Park District Police Department was made part of the Chicagom Police Department in 1959. Prior to that time the city parks were patrolled by their own department. It may be 81 years since your sacrifice but it will not be forgotten by the CPD.

Policeman Olsen, thank you for your service. Your department is part of history now, but the memory of you and what you did to protect the citizens who used that park will live forever. Being a Park Police Officer isn’t the most glamorous job, but it’s an important job and though I was born LONG after your death and have never been to Illinois, I still wish to thank you for your efforts.

God Bless and may you continue to Rest in Peace, Brother.
