I frequently drive by this intersection and think about this tragic event. I wish I knew if there are any family members left. This Officer will always remain a hero in my book. My Grandfather was on-duty when this event occurred. He walked the 10th and Franklin beat.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 63rd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

This is my grandfather, who was killed before I was born. I never knew him but my mother (his daughter) kept him alive in our hearts always. I still have all the old newspaper clippings relaying the events of this time. I know exactly what my grandmother, his wife, was doing when she heard the news over the radio. She was on a bus bringing home corned beef for St. Patrick's Day dinner. He was a loving husband and father, and I wish I had the chance to know him as a wonder grandfather.
