Deputy Marshal Hilton E. Schorre assigned to the Southern District of Texas and Nueces County Precinct 1 Deputy Constable Marcelo G. Moya, who was working part time as a guard for the USMS, were killed in an automobile accident on I-35 near Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. The two lawmen were transporting two federal prisoners from the Federal Reformatory in El Reno, Oklahoma, to Federal Correctional Institution in Texarkana, Texas. Both of the prisoners were also killed in the accident.

Deputy Constable Moya was survived by his wife, Herminia (Minnie), two sons, Roy and Richard, and two daughters, Irma Belinda and Elva India. He was buried in the Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Corpus Christi. He had been employed by the Nueces County Constable's Office Precinct 1 for nine months.
