Officer Lovett died of a heart attack as he was bringing a number of gambling suspects into the Germantown Avenue and Haines Street station house. Officer Lovett was involved in a foot pursuit during an investigation at a restaurant at Wayne Avenue and Chelton Avenue.
Officer Lovett was a U.S Army veteran of WWI and had served with the Philadelphia Police Department for 14 years. He was survived by his wife and two children.
