Patrolman Stephen Janeda succumbed to injuries suffered as a result of striking a stone wall in the 1200 block of Chartiers Avenue on July 13, 1929.
His mother died about 12 hours before he passed away from his injuries, and they were buried on the same day.
Patrolman Janeda was a U.S. Army veteran of WWI and had served with the Pittsburgh Police Department for at least nine years. He was survived by several siblings.
