Police Officer Richard Giles was struck and killed while in pursuit of a speeding car on Sepulveda Boulevard in Manhattan Beach.
Officer Giles was traveling northbound when a car at Sixth Street attempted to turn left in front of him, striking his motorcycle. He was transported to South Bay Community Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Officer Giles had served with the Manhattan Beach Police Department for over three years. He was survived by his wife and two sons.
